A Ministry of Compassion and Wholeness

Programs

This program, funded by the Canterbury Beeson Trust, provides case management services to low-income elderly clients (60 and older) who live in Jefferson County, including client referrals, home visits, transportation assistance, and financial assistance.

Community Church Without Walls

Urban Ministry provides office, worship, study, and recreational space for this United Methodist church start. The church is our primary partner supporting WE Gardens.

Community Kitchen

Provides a hot noon lunch, Monday through Friday.

Emergency Care and Food Pantry

Provides utility and rent assistance, food boxes, and Christmas assistance for persons and families in emergency situations.

Homelessness Prevention

Provides housing assistance and case management services for families who are homeless or at immediate risk of homelessness due to job loss.

Joe Rush Center for Urban Mission

Our dorm facility at Walnut Grove UMC hosts work groups to complete volunteer projects and provides exterior house painting and maintenance for low-income elderly and disabled persons in Jefferson County.

Prison Ministry

Supports two Kairos weekends per year for inmates at Donaldson Correctional Facility.

Urban Kids 

This after-school program and summer day camp provides year-round academic support and enrichment activities for students in grades three through eight.

Provides meaningful service opportunities for local and national volunteers.

WE (West End) Community Gardens

Provides garden plot rentals, tools, and seeds, community harvesting opportunities, nutrition and gardening classes, community health and wellness festivals, and a seasonal market selling fresh, affordable produce to the West End Community and beyond.
