URBAN MINISTRY

Urban Ministry is about Compassion and Wholeness. Our mission is to serve persons in Birmingham, Alabama with programs of Compassion and Wholeness. In addition, we serve the Church and other groups by providing opportunities for these persons to join in serving poor persons as volunteers.

We also seek to address the systemic causes of human need by advocating for public policy changes that will create fairness for poor and low-income persons in Alabama. We do this as a member group of Alabama Arise a state-wide coalition of groups working to pass legislation that is beneficial to low-income residents of Alabama. We are also members of the Metropolitan Birmingham Services for the Homeless, and the Food Coalition of Jefferson County.

We can now accept donations online. Simply click the button and follow the steps. Thank you!

A MINISTRY OF COMPASSION AND WHOLENESS

People who are suffering need both.  They need our Compassion to put an immediate end to their suffering.  They need to achieve Wholeness so they no longer need the help we provide.  Urban Ministry recognizes the importance of both compassion and wholeness.  We work to end suffering.  We work to equip people for life.  We work to effect changes in society.  And in the process, we change lives.
